Colombo, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe himself has taken over the Finance Ministry in Sri Lanka, which is facing severe economic crisis. In the government of Ranil Wickremesinghe, who became prime minister after the resignation of Mahinda Rajapaksa, the rest of the ministers had been appointed except the finance minister. Now President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has administered the oath of Finance Minister to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. After assuming the post of Finance Minister, his first task will be to get the country out of the crisis. For this they will negotiate with the International Monetary Fund, ie IMF.

Significantly, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa expanded Wickremesinghe’s cabinet to include new ministers on May 24, but he did not appoint any finance minister. Recently, to overcome the economic crisis, the Ranil Wickremesinghe government of Sri Lanka decided to sell the state-run airline. The government has also decided to print new currency to pay salaries to employees and for other important works.

In an interview recently, Wickremesinghe had said that he would present an interim budget in six weeks and cut infrastructure projects. Remember, Ranil Wickremesinghe is considered the best administrator of the country. He is also considered pro-American. He has been the Prime Minister for five times in the past as well.
