England has announced its Test squad for the series against India. The European side has announced a squad with some new names and a lot of old names, who are on their fourth tour of India in the longest format. Ben Stokes is set to lead England in the Test series. The experienced player is likely to be fit before the start of the series.

The squad of England for the series against India have Ben Stokes (C), Joe Root, James Anderson, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Rehan Ahmed, Zack Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Jack Leach, Harry Brook, Shoaib Bashir, Tom Hartley, Ollie Pope, Mark Wood, and Ollie Robinson. There are many pacers in the England squad, despite the series being in the subcontinent.

Looks like England is up for the long series of India. The series will be having 5 Test matches. The patience of both the sides will be tested in the series. It will arguably be the biggest challenge of India at their backyard in the last 11 years in Test cricket. England has backed its veterans to do the job in the subcontinent conditions. There are many players who have played a lot in India.

Test callups for three players from England

Apart from trusting the experienced ones, England has also trusted some of the new players to perform in the subcontinent. There are three new faces who have got selected for the tour of India. The likes of Shoaib Bashir, Tom Hartley, and Gus Atkinson have received maiden callups for the series. Considering the long tour, England has gone with a squad consisting of 16 players.

India is yet to announce its squad for the series against England. The home side is expected to not make many changes for the series. It is to be seen if Rishabh pant would be fit to play the series against England. For the visiting side, the recovery of Stokes from the surgery he recently undergone would be key. The biggest discussion of the series would be the longevity of Bazball in Test cricket.

Atkinson will be the surprise package for Indian team. He has bowled well in WC and in WI series too. Anderson again to trouble Virat Kohli. Root has been impressive in Tests especially against India
