Apple’s next generation phone iPhone 14 Pro model is more popular in the market than the base iPhone 14. This information has been given in a new report. As Gizmochina reports, it plans to ask its suppliers to shift production capacity from the vanilla iPhone 14 models to the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro versions.

Efforts to increase production of iPhone 14 Pro series

The company will be making changes later in view of higher demand, so ramping up its production will help boost sales in the fourth and final quarter of this year. Currently, Apple has apparently asked Foxconn to ramp up production of the iPhone 14 Pro series to increase the ASP (average selling price) of its latest iPhone lineup.

In other words, analysts are expecting shipments and sales growth to increase the ASP of 2022 iPhones by about 10 percent, the report said. For those unaware, the brand had announced the iPhone 14 series during its Far Out event, with the new model featuring various improvements over the previous generation iPhone 13.

The new series included a new iPhone 14 Plus, which replaced the Mini model, while the Pro variant also brought a major change in design on the front. Meanwhile, the rear of these higher end variants also saw a bump in camera specifications.

Company going to move 25 percent to India by 2025

According to an analysis by JP Morgan, Apple is going to move 5 percent of its new iPhone 14 production by the end of this year and 25 percent to India by 2025, due to the doubling of local manufacturing of IT products in India.

Analysts had previously predicted that Apple would cut the production period of its new iPhones in India by barely six weeks or so from the production cycle in China this year. Next year, the Apple iPhone 15 could see its production at Foxconn and Wistron manufacturing facilities in India, along with China.

information in the report

According to a JP Morgan report, India’s iPhone supply chain has historically only supplied older models. Interestingly, Apple has requested that EMS vendors manufacture the iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India in the fourth quarter of 2022 within two to three months of the start of production in mainland China.

The report said, “The very short gap indicates the growing importance of India’s production and the potential for higher iPhone allocation for India’s manufacturing in the future. We believe that more iPhone Pro series (done by EMS vendors) will be available in the market.” Due to complex camera module alignment and high local market demand for the iPhone 14 series (tax savings), Apple now produces only iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India.”
