In literature, there is a hyperbole in many rhetoric, in which everything is said to be exaggerated. Ritual poets used this ornament a lot. Later it became a thing used in politics. Every leader uses this ornament in small amounts. But Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal competes with ritual poets in his use of hyperbole rhetoric. They exaggerate everything. He is an expert in making mountains of mustard seeds. There is nothing wrong in this as politics has become a propaganda thing these days. But sometimes they go too far in the use of exaggerated ornamentation. Like he just did. In defense of his two ministers accused of corruption – Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain, he said that both of them are Bhagat Singh of the present! Just as he made Anna Hazare Gandhi, in the same way he is making Sisodia and Jain as Bhagat Singh!
This is a very bad statement and in 75 years after independence, I can’t remember any other bad statement made by any leader with which it can be compared. Think, where is Sardar Bhagat Singh and where is Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain! Bhagat Singh was fighting against the British rule. Together they were fighting against the world’s biggest imperialist power and the economic and social inequality prevailing in the country. The amount of knowledge he had studied at the age of 23, the amount of knowledge he had acquired, the kind of understanding he had about India as a country and society, the depth of his thoughts to reach there is for any politician of the present time. It’s not possible. Bhagat Singh was martyred. He threw a bomb in the Central Assembly to bring the voices of crores of Indians to the deaf government of Britain and stood there with indomitable courage so that they would be arrested. He laughed and kissed the noose of the gallows.
Bhagat Singh was far ahead of all the great revolutionaries of his time. Among his contemporary great revolutionaries, Chandrashekhar Azad also gave martyrdom, Ramprasad Bislim and Ashfaullah Khan were also hanged, Rajguru and Sukhdev had kissed the noose along with Bhagat Singh, yet Shaheed-e-Azam was called Bhagat Singh. He was bigger than all the contemporary revolutionaries and martyrs who were taking on the British rule, then Shaheed-e-Azam became martyr. Then he was considered the greatest martyr. Think, when none of his contemporaries was equal to him or no one was considered as Bhagat Singh, Bhagat Singh was considered the first among equals, was considered to be the most wonderful, then after a hundred years, tell Bhagat Singh to the Chhutbhaiya leaders, how much of Shaheed-e-Azam It’s a great insult! It is a good thing that Arvind Kejriwal is putting pictures of Bhagat Singh in his programs or in government offices, but this does not give him the right to insult him.
There have been allegations of corruption against two of his ministers whom he has described as Bhagat Singh. Manish Sisodia is accused of scam in the new liquor policy. His close friends have been accused of taking money. Just because the investigating agency comes under the government of the opposition party, it cannot be said that the allegations are false. Similarly, Satyendra Jain has been accused of misappropriation of money through hawala. He has been in jail for several months and in the news that came out about his interrogation, it was told that he kept claiming that he had lost his memory.
Think, a man in jail on corruption charges, who pretends to have lost his memory in the agency’s investigation, is called Bhagat Singh, can there be anything more obscene than this? Bhagat Singh stood on that ideological plane, even around which Kejriwal and his party are not. By wearing a yellow turban picture of Bhagat Singh, who wrote a book like ‘Main Atheist Kyun Hoon’, Kejriwal and Company is making him a symbol of bigotry. Influenced by the great revolutionary Vladimir Lenin and who believed in the principles of communism, the party which tried to make Bhagat Singh a tool of polarization could do nothing worse to him.
Here even the phrase of being martyred by cutting nails cannot be used because there is no martyrdom happening here. Sisodia and Jain are enjoying all the facilities they get as ministers of the Delhi government. They have got big bungalows, big offices, big vehicles, security guards, convoys of vehicles go back and forth, get a hefty salary and allowances, then you do some work for two crore people of Delhi. What more do you want in return for some ordinary work done as a minister? After this, if there is any disturbance in the functioning of your ministry, then it is being investigated. How can you be called a martyr for this? You are a minister of one state and all the time are campaigning for the party in another state and want you to be considered a martyr and that too like Bhagat Singh!
Arvind Kejriwal will have his own politics. They will have their own ambitions. But sorry Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh cannot be a tool for your political success or fulfillment of your ambition. You cannot use the name of Bhagat Singh or any martyr for your two penny politics. You and the leaders of this country have already insulted Gandhi, Patel and Nehru no less, now don’t insult the great martyrs of freedom. If you can’t increase their respect, then at least don’t make them small. Fight your own battle. Let your ministers, who are enjoying power with public money, fight their battles themselves. Don’t insult Shaheed-e-Azam by calling him Bhagat Singh.
