Russian attack intensifies in Mariupol

Kyiv. Russian troops attacked a steel plant in the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol on Saturday. Keep in mind that two days ago, Putin ordered the Russian army not to attack the plant. The army was asked to cut off his external contact. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russians had liberated all of Mariupol, except Azhovstal. But on Saturday Ukrainian soldiers were fighting. Oleksiev Erastovich, an adviser to the head of the presidential office in Ukraine, informed of the new Russian attack.

On the other hand, Russian troops have intensified their attacks in the eastern Donbass region amid a vigorous retaliatory strike by Ukraine. According to the agency report, the Russian army has resumed air strikes on the huge plant on the beach. “The enemy is trying to completely suppress the resistance of the defenders of Mariupol in the Azhovtal area,” he said.

Ukrainian officials estimate that about 2,000 of their troops are inside the plant. On Saturday morning, the Azov regiment of Ukraine’s National Guard, whose members are hiding in the plant, released video footage of nearly two dozen women and children, some of whom said they had taken refuge in the mill’s underground tunnels for two months. and haven’t been out for a long time.

The regiment’s deputy commander, Svitoslav Palmar, said the video was made on Thursday, the same day Russia declared victory over the rest of Mariupol. However, the content in the video cannot be independently verified. According to Ukrainian officials, more than a million people are trapped in Mariupol.

In the footage of Ajovstal, soldiers are seen giving sweets to the children. In it, a girl can be seen saying that she and her relatives have not seen the open sky or the sun since leaving the house on February 27. More than 20,000 civilians have been killed in Mariupol during a nearly two-month siege by Russian troops.
