Preparations to crack down on criminals in MP

Bhopal. In Madhya Pradesh, the government has intensified efforts to crack down on the perpetrators of serious crimes committed in the last one and a half decade. The round of review of the action taken on the crimes committed in the state since the year 2008 has not only been started, but the strategy is also being worked on to give them harsh punishment. The crimes that have been identified in the state include gruesome cases of murder, mass murder, dacoity with murder, gang rape, terrorist acts, murder with kidnapping, theft of archaeological importance and religious idols apart from those involving the sentiments of the common man. Along with this, arrangements have been made to give the harshest punishment by including the incidents of rape of girls below twelve years of age etc.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that with the objective of controlling crimes in the state, the work of regular review of action on identified crimes has started from the year 2008, under which there is a significant reduction in crime included in the category of identified crimes. Along with bringing, the work is being done to give the harshest punishment to the criminals who have committed these crimes. The category of identified crimes has been created so that the criminals can be acted upon immediately and there is an atmosphere of fear in them. Committees have been constituted at district, divisional and state level for identified crimes, which are reviewed from time to time every month. The meeting of Collectors, Superintendent of Police, District Prosecution Officer or Government Advocate at the District level, Divisional Commissioner at the Divisional level and Committee at the State level is held. In the identified cases and convicted cases, many have been punished in the last two years. In the year 2020-22, criminals have been punished with 2 death sentences, 187 life imprisonment, 137 other rigorous imprisonment in the identified crimes related to women.
