Major accident in Russia: 15 killed, five scorched in nightclub fire

Moscow. A fire broke out at a nightclub in the Russian city of Kostroma, killing 15 people and injuring five others on Saturday. The fire broke out after someone used a flare gun during an early morning brawl at the cafe, local officials said. Rescuers pulled out 250 people.

Kostroma region governor Sergei Steennikov said people with minor injuries were being treated. Officials said the roof of the cafe collapsed during the fire. He said that a criminal investigation has been launched into the matter and the police are on the lookout for the person who used the flare gun.

Kostroma is located about 340 km from northern Moscow and is a city with a population of 270,000 people.
