Indigo fined Rs 5 lakh

New Delhi, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGCA has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on IndiGo for not accommodating a handicapped child on its Ranchi to Hyderabad flight. Along with this, a show cause notice has also been issued to Indigo Airlines. Significantly, on May 7, IndiGo had dropped a handicapped child from Ranchi to Hyderabad flight. Its video also went viral on social media.

After the video went viral and the ministry took cognizance of it, IndiGo said that the child was afraid to board the flight, keeping in mind his condition and safety, the airlines took this decision. Company employees claimed that the child was feeling uncomfortable and scared. She was not allowed to board the ship, after which her parents also did not board the flight.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had also taken cognizance of this matter. He had tweeted – There is zero tolerance for such attitude. No human being should go through this. I am probing the matter myself, after which appropriate action will be taken. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has also sought a report from IndiGo. Action has been taken in this matter after being shared on social media.
