Seven cases of new variants found

Mumbai, Seven cases of two new variants of Omicron, which caused the third wave of corona in India, have been found. For the first time in Maharashtra, four patients of Omicron’s sub-variants BA-4 and three patients of BA-5 have been found. Giving information about this on Saturday, a Health Department official said that all the patients have shown mild symptoms and are being treated at home. The Omicron sub-variants were detected last month in many parts of the world, including South Africa, but no cases were found in India so far.

An official of the Health Department of Maharashtra has said – The Institute of Science Education and Research had done genome sequencing, in which all these variants were detected. Later its findings were also confirmed by the Indian Biodata Center in Faridabad. All these new cases have been found in Pune. It has been told that four cases of BA-4 and three cases of BA-5 have been found. These seven people include four men and three women. These include six adults and one nine-year-old child. All adults have received both doses of the vaccine.

However, once again there has been an increase in new cases of corona in the country. According to the data updated by the Government of India on Saturday morning, 2,710 new cases of corona were found and 14 patients died in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 2,296 patients were cured of treatment. This means that active cases increased by more than 400 in these 24 hours. There was a similar increase in active cases on Friday and Thursday as well. The recovery rate from corona in the country has increased to 98.75 percent. The infection rate in the country is stable around 0.58 percent.

In the capital Delhi, 445 new cases of corona have been reported and no one has died. Despite this, the infection rate in the capital is equal to four times the national average. According to the data updated on Saturday morning, the rate of infection in the capital is 2.04 percent. It has been decreasing for the last two weeks, but before that the rate of infection was above five percent for several days. On the other hand, 536 new cases of corona were reported in Maharashtra and one patient has died.
