Mobile Number Port SMS Facility: If you want to port your mobile number but you are not able to port the number through SMS due to low cost recharge in your phone, then there is good news for you. In this regard, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given strict orders to telecom companies on Tuesday and asked them to implement SMS facility with immediate effect regarding portability, keeping the number the same for all mobile customers. This facility has been asked to be extended to all mobile customers, irrespective of the amount they have not recharged.

Let us tell you that Reliance Jio had recently written a letter to TRAI complaining that Vodafone-Idea’s new fee structure is restricting the facility of mobile number portability from its network to customers who are allegedly doing low amount recharge.

TRAI expressed strong objection
In such a situation, this strong message of TRAI regarding network portability is important. Apart from this, TRAI has also taken strong objection to telecom service providers not providing ‘outgoing SMS’ facility in some ‘prepaid vouchers’. According to TRAI, complaints have been received from customers in the recent past that despite having sufficient amount in their prepaid accounts, they are sending SMS to the designated number 1900 for generating the UPC (Unique Porting Code) to avail the ‘Mobile Number Portability’ facility. Unable to send.

TRAI said in its direction, “…all service providers are therefore directed to provide mobile phone portability facility to both prepaid and postpaid category of mobile phone customers under the Telecom Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009.” Give facility to send SMS regarding UPC on 1900. This facility should be available to all customers, irrespective of the value of vouchers they are using.

Not providing SMS facility is a ‘violation’ of the provisions
TRAI said that the activities of non-provision of SMS sending facility related to mobile number partability in certain prepaid vouchers/plans are in ‘violation’ of the provisions of the regulation. According to sources, Reliance Jio had complained to TRAI that Vodafone-Idea’s new tariff structure prevents customers opting for low-value plans from ‘porting’ their mobile number as the company’s initial tier plans include ‘outgoing SMS’. ‘ Facility is not available.

It is noteworthy that Vodafone-Idea had increased mobile services and internet rates by 18-25 percent in November. Under the new fee structure, the company increased the initial level ‘plan’ from Rs 75 to Rs 99 with a validity of 28 days, but did not add SMS service. According to Jio’s complaint, Vodafone-Idea is offering SMS service in plans 179 and above.
