Maruti Suzuki sales down 6% in April, Skoda sales up five times

Maruti Suzuki (MSI) wholesales declined by 6 per cent to 1,50,661 units in April 2022. In April 2021, the company sold 1,59,691 vehicles. The company said in a statement on Sunday that its domestic sales declined by seven per cent to 1,32,248 units in April from 1,42,454 units in the same month a year ago. The company’s small car sales – Alto and S-Presso – declined 32 per cent to 17,137 units from 25,041 units in the month under review. Similarly, the company’s sales in the compact segment declined by 18 per cent to 59,184 units. In this segment, the company sells models like Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire. On the other hand, Skoda Auto sales grew five times to 5,152 units in April. In the same month a year ago, the company sold 961 vehicles.

Tata Motors wholesale sales up 74 percent

Tata Motors on Sunday said its total sales grew 74 per cent to 72,468 units in April 2022 from 41,729 units in April 2021. Tata Motors said in a statement that the company’s domestic sales grew by 81 percent to 71,467 units as against 39,401 units in April, 2021. A total of 41,587 passenger vehicles were dispatched to dealers which is 66 per cent more than 25,095 vehicles in April, 2021. Similarly, the company’s commercial vehicle sales doubled to 29,880 units in the domestic market last month. Tata Motors is planning to bring EVs to the customers in different price segments. The company has said that it is working on plans to introduce EV models in a range of sizes and features to meet the needs of customers across segments.

Hyundai Motor sales down five percent

Hyundai Motor India on Sunday said its total sales declined by five per cent to 56,201 units in April 2022. In the same period last year, the company had sold 59,203 vehicles. Domestic sales also declined by 10 per cent to 44,001 units as compared to 49,002 units as of April 2021, the company said in a statement. The company said its imports increased to 12,200 units from 10,201 units in April last year.

57% jump in sales of Toyota Kirloskar

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sales jumped 57 per cent to 15,085 units in April. The company gave this information on Sunday. In April last year, the company had shipped 9,600 vehicles to dealers. Atul Sood, Associate Vice President Sales and Strategic Marketing, TKM said, “Demand picks up in the new financial year. Our wholesale sales have grown by 57 per cent this year as compared to April, 2021. Apart from Crysta, a large number of bookings are being received for Fortuner, Legend and Camry Hybrid, Sood said.
