The longest flyover of Jammu and Kashmir is ready

Jammu. The construction of the longest flyover in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed and formal inauguration is awaited. The 4.6 km long flyover is built on the Jammu-Akhnoor Road and connects Kanal Head near the Directorate of School Education Jammu with Ganesh Vihar Mithi. Although its construction has been completed, it has not been officially dedicated to the people. The construction agency is waiting for a dignitary from the Government of India to formally inaugurate it. The Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, a company under the Union Ministry of Roads and Highways, worked on the road widening project at a total cost of Rs 1,345 crore and has been divided into four packages. The flyover has been constructed under package 2, while 60 per cent work under package 3 has been completed.

SP Sangwan, General Manager, Project Monitoring Unit Jammu-Akhnoor told the media that the work of the longest canal head in Jammu and Kashmir, Tagnesh Vihar Mithi flyover, has been completed very quickly. The construction work, which began in November 2018, was paralyzed for almost two years as people from some villages in Palura moved the High Court. The land for the flyover was transferred in January 2021. Despite shortage of manpower and material, oxygen cylinder for welding due to global COVID pandemic, the company completed the work by 15th September, 2022. During this, demolition of structures, shifting of water supply line, shifting of cables of underground 11 and 33 KV VHT lines etc. were important works. The work was allotted to M/s Singhla Construction Company, which constructed a 4.6 km long flyover consisting of eight lanes with four service lanes at a cost of Rs.274 crore.
