New York. After the resignation of Marcus Dohle from Penguin Random House, the world’s largest publishing company, Nihar Malviya will be made the interim CEO of the company. Indian-origin Malviya is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Penguin Random House (USA), who will take over as CEO from January 1, 2023. Malviya holds an MBA in Finance-Marketing from New York University.

Indian-origin Nihar Malviya will be made the interim CEO of New York-based international publishing group Penguin Random House. The company’s current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marcus Dohle announced his exit from the post, following which Malviya was named the interim CEO.

Malviya is the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Penguin Random House America since 2019. He will become the interim CEO from January 1, 2023. The publisher’s parent company Bertelsmann gave this information in a statement on Friday. Malviya will report to Thomas Rabe, CEO of Bertelsmann and will join the Group Management Committee (GMC) of Bertelsmann. In addition, he will continue to be a member of the Penguin Random House Global Executive Committee.

After Malviya’s appointment, the GMC will comprise 20 top officials from eight different nationalities, the statement said. As interim CEO of Penguin Random House, Malaviya will lead the way in driving new competitive advantages to position the company for future growth, according to the statement. In his current responsibility of President and COO, Malviya was responsible for all publishing operations in the Americas, from supply chain to technology and data and customer services.
