Video: A fierce fire broke out in a factory in Henan province in China, more than 35 people died

Beijing. At least 36 people were killed in a fire at a company dealing in chemicals and other industrial goods in central China’s Henan province. The local government said in a statement on Tuesday that two people were injured in the incident, while two others were missing. According to the Wenfang district government, the fire broke out around 4 pm on Monday and was brought under control by firefighters after nearly four hours of struggle.

More than 200 personnel are carrying out the search and rescue operation on the spot. 60 fire brigade personnel are also present at the spot. No information has yet been given regarding the cause of the fire and how many employees of the company were killed in the accident.

However, laxity in security measures has become common in China due to increased competition and corruption. A massive explosion in 2015 at a chemical warehouse in the northern port city of Tianjin killed 173 people. Most of the dead were firefighters and police officers.
