Two day session of Gujarat Legislative Assembly from today, newly elected MLAs will take oath

Ahmedabad. The two-day session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will begin today i.e. Monday and on the first day the newly elected MLAs will take oath. An officer gave this information. Elections for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will also be held on Tuesday. Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretary DM Patel said that Pro-tem Speaker and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Yogesh Patel will administer oath to 182 MLAs in the state capital Gandhinagar on Monday in the first session of the 15th Assembly.

He said that on Tuesday, the second day of the two-day session, the new members would elect the Speaker. According to an official notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the election for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held on Tuesday and the rest of the proceedings will take place thereafter. On 12 December, four days after the declaration of the results of the assembly elections, Bhupendra Patel was sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister.

Along with Patel, 16 ministers also took oath. The BJP won 156 seats in Gujarat’s 182-member assembly, while the opposition Congress came second with 17 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won five seats in the elections. Independents won three seats, while one seat went to the Samajwadi Party.
