Two big decisions have stirred up here in America. One because of some new restrictions on the possession of guns and the other because of the ban on abortion. There are demonstrations in many provinces regarding these two decisions of the Supreme Court of America and they are being strongly opposed or supported. There is not as much opposition to gun bans as abortion bans are.
The Supreme Court has reversed the US Supreme Court’s decision to allow abortion in 1973. The reason behind this decision of 6 and 3 judges is the majority of conservative judges appointed by former President Donald Trump. Now whatever states in America are conservative or Republican or pro-Trump, they will implement this law immediately.
The result would be that women would have no fundamental right about their bodies. About a dozen states have announced a ban on abortion. No woman can abort a pregnancy beyond 15 weeks. President Joe Biden has described this decision of the court as terrible, but there has been an outcry against it all over America. Major leaders of European nations strongly condemned the decision. America’s well-known companies have asked the women working with them that whenever they want to go to another US state for abortion, they will be given full facilities.
Abortion is still allowed in 13 US states. There is a federal system in America. That is why its states are free to follow the central law or not. But the Catholic clergy of America are welcoming this abortion ban. Anyway, nowadays, in Europe and America, the practice of illicit physical relations between men and women has increased so much that without the facility of abortion, their life can be difficult.
Apart from this, the demand for the facility of abortion has also increased because pregnant women die due to stealth abortion. According to a World Health Organisation, there are 25 million unsafe abortions every year, in which 37,000 women lose their lives.
Now with the ban on abortion, this number will only increase. Many countries in Europe are getting ready to legalize the right to abortion. In India it is legal to abort a pregnancy after 24 weeks or more if it is necessary for the health of the pregnant woman. Indian law is more practical.
