Citing White House nuclear adviser Pranaya Waddy, reports that the United States is incurring costs due to excessive dependence on Russia in the field of nuclear fuel, to solve this problem they plan to increase the production of enriched uranium and expand capacity at the Urenco plant in the state of New -Mexico.

Now the capacity of the Urenco plant is enough to cover only 30% of America’s needs. The company is working to increase the production of enriched uranium. It is planned that by 2027 the turnover will increase by 15%.

Karen Fili, who holds the post of executive director in the American branch, emphasizes that the increase in production will allow covering the share of Rosatom in 4 years. However, the details of the costs are not disclosed.
