India’s pride in G20: ‘It is our responsibility to create a new world order’

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed the need to ensure collective peace, harmony and security in the world. Addressing the G20 summit in Bali, Modi said, the responsibility of creating a new world order for the post-Covid rests on our shoulders. The need of the hour is to show a concerted and collective resolve to ensure peace, harmony and security.

Referring to the next G20 meeting to be held in India, the Prime Minister further said, I am confident that when the G20 countries meet on the holy land of Buddha and Gandhi, we will agree to give a strong message of peace to the world.

Referring to the Ukraine conflict, Modi emphasized that the world has to find a way to ensure a ceasefire and return to diplomacy.

Citing the example of World War II and the devastation caused by it, the Prime Minister said that world leaders then made serious efforts to ensure peace and now it is our turn. The Prime Minister said that the current geo-political situation has disrupted the global supply chain, leading to a global crisis of essential commodities.

In his address in Bali, Modi said, today’s fertilizer shortage is tomorrow’s food crisis, which the world will not have a solution for. We should make a mutual agreement to maintain the supply chain of both manure and food grains. He further said, by 2030, half of our electricity will be generated from renewable sources. Therefore timely and affordable finance and a sustainable supply of technology to developing countries are essential for inclusive energy transformation.

Highlighting the importance of India’s energy security, Modi said it is vital for global growth, as it is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. “We should not allow any restriction on the supply of energy and stability in the energy market should be ensured,” he said. He said that India is committed to clean energy and environment.
