Ashok Kumar Pincha BJP candidate in Sardarshahr by-election

Jaipur. The Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated Ashok Kumar Pincha as its candidate for the by-election to Sardarshahar assembly seat in Rajasthan.

The Central Election Committee of the BJP on Tuesday issued a statement announcing Pincha as its candidate. Voting for the by-election is to be held on December 5. According to party sources, Pincha is likely to file his nomination on Wednesday.

The ruling Congress in the state is yet to announce the name of its candidate for this by-poll. The seat fell vacant after the death of Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma.

The last date for filing nominations for the by-elections is November 17. Polling will be held on December 5 and counting will be held on December 8. In this by-election, 2,89,579 voters of Sardarshahr assembly constituency will be able to exercise their franchise. A total of 295 polling stations have been set up for voting.

The Sardarshahr (Churu) seat has been occupied by Congress for a long time. MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma (77) from this seat died on October 9 after a prolonged illness. He had represented the region for a total of seven times in the assembly.

At present, the Congress has 107, the BJP 71 and 13 independents in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly. One seat is vacant, while the rest are with other parties. The next assembly elections are to be held in the state by the end of 2023.
