Will Dhami government move ahead on Lokayukta?

Dehradun. Various questions have been raised from time to time regarding the non-appointment of Lokayukta in Uttarakhand. But such a statement has been given by BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt regarding Lokayukta, after which the discussions have started gaining momentum again whether the BJP government is really serious about Lokayukta like the BJP organization. Due to the absence of Lokayukta in Uttarakhand, complaints of corruption are not resolved quickly. Regarding this, the demand for the appointment of Lokayukta also keeps arising from time to time, but it is also a fact that after 2017 no Chief Minister has taken steps for the appointment of Lokayukta. This is the reason that the promise made by the BJP in its manifesto in the 2017 assembly elections regarding the appointment of Lokayukta, has not been fulfilled till date.

But now BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt has given a statement that the need of Lokayukta is being felt and the decision which has to be taken regarding Lokayukta has to be done at the assembly level. Overall, this statement of the BJP state president also matters because many times before this, BJP leaders and ministers were even seen saying that the BJP government is moving ahead with the slogan of zero tolerance on corruption. And there is no need of Lokayukta at present. But after this statement of the state president, the market of discussions got heated whether the government is really serious about the appointment of Lokayukta, but the Congress is questioning the intention of the government. However, the manner in which corruption cases are being exposed continuously in the state for some time, it seems that if Lokayukta had actually been appointed in Uttarakhand, tough decisions could have come on corruption cases. After the statement given by BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt regarding the need for Lokayukta, it remains to be seen whether the Dhami government will take a decision on the appointment of Lokayukta.
