Sports

Why sports in the lap of politicians?

There is hardly any game left in which politicians do not interfere. I don’t know where this politicization of sports is going, but past experience shows that the sport on which the leader’s eyes are getting little has been done. It is true that the sports ministers who are in the custody of MPs, there is hardly any lack of facilities for their players.

Until a few years ago, sports and politics were considered to be two different sides, the meeting of which was said to be an inauspicious sign. But gradually sports and politics kept coming closer and today the situation is that sports have been completely politicized. Wherever you look, whatever sport you look at, politics and politicians and their families have been riding on it.

If you take a cursory look at Indian sports, in the initial years most of the games progressed with the cooperation and team spirit of true and good officials and small and big industrialists. Under the guidance of dedicated administrators like Late Ashwani Kumar, Jagmohan Dalmian, his games were successful in making a mark. It is true that due to limited support from governments, sports federations and their small units started taking shelter of industrialists and politicians and this change led to some sports activities.

But then there came a time when the players of politics became the first necessity of sports. This happened because the governments of the country did not take sports seriously and the players continued to yearn for the facilities. The sports federations and organizations which kept the players of politics at a distance, their condition went on deteriorating. After losing, he also had to take shelter of a politician and MP and today the situation is that most of the sports of the country have become the refuge and pasture of the politicians. There is hardly any game left in which no political player is involved.

This is the condition when the governments of the country are giving a lot to the players. Gone are the days when Indian players were forced to travel barefoot, hungry stomach, third class. Now governments are giving them lakhs of crores, crores are being spent on foreign coaches and players are being sent abroad for training. But as the means facilities are increasing, sports and politics are also getting closer. Of course, governments are run by politicians and now they have probably caught the sore point of sports.

His direct message is going, ‘If we are there then there is no sorrow’. The game of recruitment that Indian sports had started in the last two decades of the twentieth century is now showing its colours. Every sport is getting absorbed in the pockets of politicians, their sons, daughters and siblings. In particular, sane leaders know that sport is the easiest way to gain cheap popularity. This is the reason that political fanatics carry one or two games in their pocket.
