SK Ghosh passes away: Former international umpire Sunit Kumar Ghosh (SK Ghosh) died on Sunday at a hospital in Kolkata after prolonged illness. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) gave this information. He was 87 years old and has two sons. Ghosh had officiated in two Tests and seven ODIs and was fondly called ‘Biltu Da’ on the field.
CAB President Avishek Dalmiya said in a statement, “It is a very sad day. His services to cricket will always be remembered. On behalf of the Sangh, I express my condolences to his family. In the year 2016, Ghosh was honored with the CAB Memorial Award at the annual function.
pitch curator also died
Earlier, Mohan Singh, the chief pitch curator of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium, also passed away on Sunday. He died a few hours before the T20 World Cup match between Afghanistan and New Zealand. UAE Cricket sources confirmed this unfortunate news to news agency PTI-Bhasha. The cause of his death, however, is not yet known. Mohan worked in Mohali under the supervision of former BCCI chief curator Daljit Singh before moving to the UAE in the early 2000s.
