Four-day Chhath festival starts from October 28 across the country including Jharkhand

Ranchi. Chhath, a four-day festival of folk faith, is starting from tomorrow, October 28, across the country including Jharkhand. Chhath festival will end on 31 October. The festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated in the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. In this fast, the fasting person has to remain dehydrated for 36 hours. Chhath Puja will start from Nahay Khay from tomorrow and on this day Vratis take bath in the river, after that only one time meal is eaten. The second day of Chhath will be Kharna on 29 October and Bhog is prepared on this day. In the evening, milk rice and jaggery or bottle gourd khichdi are eaten.

There is a tradition of offering Arghya to Lord Surya in the evening on the third day of Chhath Puja and the Arghya soup is decorated with fruits, Thekua, rice laddus etc. in a bamboo basket. After this, Vratis along with their families offer Arghya to Suryadev and on this day the setting sun is worshipped. The first Arghya of Chhath Puja will be held on October 30 this year. Arghya is offered to the rising sun on the fourth day. This Arghya will give the rising sun on 31 October after fasting for about 36 hours. After this, after breaking the fast, the fast will end.
