SL vs WI: Sri Lankan batsman Dhananjaya de Silva lost his wicket in a strange manner on the second day of the first Test match being played in Galle between Sri Lanka and West Indies. He was defending a ball on the back foot but the ball hit the bat and went into the air just above the stump. He immediately tried to hit the ball twice with the bat so that the ball did not fall on the stump. He managed to stop the ball from falling on the stump, but the bat sat on the stump.

In the 95th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, de Silva was hit wicket by Shannon Gabriel. Dhananjay de Silva (61) was seen in good rhythm. He had a partnership of 111 runs with Karunaratne for the fourth wicket. But after this hit wicket, he had to go to the pavilion. His mistake weighed heavily on the entire Sri Lankan team. Sri Lanka’s lower order could not do much as soon as he was out and the team was all out for 386 runs.

By the 94th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, the Sri Lankan team had scored 281 runs. The team had lost only 3 wickets. West Indies bowler Shannon Gabriel was bowling the 95th over. He bowled his fourth ball on the off-stump. De Silva played this ball with light hands and the ball, taking the edge of the bat, bounced and started falling on the stump.

Dhananjay turned back and swung the bat to save the ball from hitting the stumps, but the ball then took the edge of the bat and jumped into the air. De Silva again turned the bat but this time the bat hit the stump and he was hit-wicket out.
