Fire breaks out in Mumbai train coach

Nashik. Panic spread among commuters after a sudden fire broke out in a parcel van of 18030 Shalimar Kolkata-Mumbai LTT train at Nashik Road station on Saturday. Officials have given this information. Flames, accompanied by a thick cloud of smoke, were seen coming out of the parcel van next to the engine immediately after the train entered platform number 3 and stopped at around 8.30 am. Central Railway Chief Spokesperson Shivaji Sutar said that all firefighting resources from railways and outside were immediately mobilized to fight the fire.

As a precaution, the engine was separated from the parcel van and the fire has now been brought under control, Sutar said. There have been no casualties in this incident. Meanwhile, chaos was witnessed for some time as passengers panicked at the sight of smoke and flames while railway police were there to prevent any incident. According to Sutar, the train is expected to depart for its destination Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai this afternoon.
