Russia calls Facebook a terrorist company

moscow, Russia, which is waging war against Ukraine, has included Meta, a company owned by America’s largest social media platform Facebook, in the list of terrorist and extremist organizations. Russia’s response comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries, as the war against Ukraine intensifies.

Russia on Tuesday designated US-based company Meta as a terrorist and extremist in the database of its Federal Service for Financial Monitoring. Meta’s old name was Facebook and it is the parent company of the social media platform Facebook and Instagram, which is owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

Russia had previously banned Facebook and Instagram in late March. The ban was imposed for alleged extremist activities. Russia alleged that META propagated “Russophobia” during its alleged military campaign in Ukraine. Significantly, the tension has suddenly increased in the ongoing war since February. Russia has rained bombs on Ukraine, calling the blast on the Crimea bridge a terrorist act. After this Ukraine has also called Russia a terrorist country.
