London. Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, has died. She was 96 years old. Buckingham Palace announced his death late Thursday. “The Queen passed away this afternoon in Balmoral,” the royal family tweeted from the official account.

Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952. In 2015, she became Britain’s longest-serving Queen. He broke the record held by Queen Victoria, who ruled between 1837 and 1901.
