President flagged off two rail services in Tripura, the train will go to Agartala once a week
President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday flagged off two trains – Agartala-Guwahati-Kolkata Special Express and Jan Shatabdi Express, which will run from Agartala to Khongsang in Manipur. The President along with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha flagged off two Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) trains at Agartala railway station on the outskirts of the capital.

The President’s Office said in a tweet, “President Draupadi Murmu flagged off the Agartala-Khongsang Jan Shatabdi Express and Agartala-Kolkata Express from Agartala Railway Station. Trains connecting Tripura to Assam, West Bengal and Manipur Connectivity in the Northeast region and promote tourism.
Train will go to Agartala once a week
NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Sabyasachi Dey said that in order to further improve the rail connectivity of Tripura with the rest of the country, the Guwahati-Kolkata-Guwahati Express train has been extended once a week till Tripura capital Agartala. .
The express train will run with a structure of 14 coaches. During its regular operation, the express train (Agartala-Kolkata) will depart from Agartala every Wednesday morning and reach Kolkata at noon the next day. In the return direction, the train will leave Kolkata every Sunday and reach Agartala on Tuesday evening.
Janshatabdi Express train will travel thrice a week
The Jan Shatabdi Express train from Agartala to Jiribam to Khongsang in Manipur will run thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the CPRO said. This section has been newly constructed under the 110 km long Jiribam-Imphal new line project. Train travel (Agartala to Khongsang) travel time will be less than half as travel time will be around seven hours covering a distance of 300 kms in about 15 hours or by road.
Vistadome Coach Facility
The Jan Shatabdi Express train will have new Link Hoffman Busch coaches with latest amenities for the passengers, he said, adding that a Vistadome coach has also been added to this train so that passengers can enjoy the picturesque views of the hilly region during the journey.
The Vistadome Coaches with transparent glass windows and roofs have state-of-the-art glass windows and all-glass roofs, providing travelers with a view of the sky, mountains, tunnels, bridges, hills, tea gardens and lush green forests.
