President addressed the UP Legislative Assembly

Lucknow, President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the joint session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Monday. Speaking about the good political culture on this historic occasion, he said that in a democracy there can be difference of ideologies of the ruling party and the opposition, but there should be no enmity between the two sides. President Kovind said that it is the duty of the ruling party and the opposition to live up to the expectations of the people of the state.

Addressing the members of both the houses, he said- Uttar Pradesh Legislature has a proud history of dignified harmony between the ruling party and the opposition. However, in contrast to this rich tradition, the indecent incidents that have happened occasionally, you all have to further strengthen the healthy political tradition of Uttar Pradesh by trying to forget them as exceptions. He further said that in a democracy there can be difference of ideologies of the ruling party and the opposition, but there should be no animosity between the two sides.

The President said- The people of the state have many expectations from you. Your most important duty is to live up to their expectations and your public service includes all citizens, whether they have voted for you or not. He said- I have full faith that Uttar Pradesh will soon become a perfect state in every way due to your tireless hard work. will receive.

It is noteworthy that the President is on a state visit from June 3. He also raised the issue of low number of women in the assembly. He said- I was told that there are 47 women members in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which is 12 percent of the total number of members, ie 403. At the same time, the number of women in the total one hundred members in the Legislative Council is only five, which needs to be increased further.
