Pithoragarh cut off contact with China border due to heavy rains

Nainital. Due to heavy rains in the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand for the last two days, normal life has been disturbed. More than two dozen roads have been closed. Four border roads connecting the China border have been blocked due to landslides.

The Meteorological Department has again issued an alert for the next three days. The Gala-Jipti, Tawaghat-Ghatiyabagad, Ghatiyabagad-Lipulekh, Gunji-Kuti border roads connecting the China border have been completely blocked due to landslides at various places. The Gala-Gipti border road has been closed since October 1 due to landslides at several places.

Due to the closure of four border routes, the contact of Pithoragarh with the China border has been cut off. Landslides have also occurred at about half a dozen places between Malpa and Budi on Kailash Mansarovar Marg. On the other hand, the Adi Kailash Yatra route has also been disrupted due to debris coming between Gunji and Kuti.

The Ghat-Pithoragarh National Highway in Pithoragarh has also been disrupted on National Highway 9 due to debris coming near the Delhi band.
Traffic on the Tanakpur-Ghat national highway was also disrupted in the morning due to debris, but the road has been opened with the promptness of the Champawat district administration. Life in Nainital district has also been disturbed due to the rains since the last two days. Here five rural roads have been blocked while in Almora six rural roads have been closed due to landslides.

On the other hand, according to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy to very heavy rains in most of the districts of Kumaon and Garhwal divisions in the state from October 9 to 11. (talk)
