High Court restrains AAP leader from leveling ‘false’ allegations against Lt Governor

New Delhi. The Delhi High Court has directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and several of its leaders to refrain from leveling “false” allegations against Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena. Along with this, the court also asked him to remove the alleged defamatory posts, videos and tweets against the Lieutenant Governor on social media.

In fact, AAP and its leaders had accused the Lieutenant Governor of being involved in an alleged scam of Rs 1,400 crore. While giving interim relief, Justice Amit Bansal said that I give the verdict in favor of the plaintiff.

Apart from this, the Lieutenant Governor has also named AAP, its leaders Atishi Singh, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh and Jasmine Shah against themselves and their family. It also appealed for directions to remove ‘false’ and ‘defamatory’ posts, tweets or videos shared on social media. He has also demanded damages and compensation of Rs 2.5 crore along with interest from AAP and its five leaders.

AAP leaders had alleged that Saxena, while the chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in November 2016, had acquired the currency that was out of circulation and converted it into a new currency. The party had alleged that Saxena was involved in a scam of Rs 1,400 crore. (Language)
