Mulayam Singh passes away

Gurugram / Saifai. Noted socialist leader, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav has passed away. He was 82 years old and had been ill for the past few days. He was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, adjoining Delhi, where he breathed his last around 8.30 am on Monday. His entire family was with him at the time of his death. His condition was critical for the last several days and many big leaders had reached the hospital to see him.

His body reached his native village Saifai in the afternoon on Monday. His last rites will be performed in Saifai on Tuesday. His son and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav himself gave information about this on Twitter. He wrote on Monday – My respected father and the leader of all are no more. His body will be taken to Saifai and the last rites will be performed there tomorrow at 3 pm. This information was also given by tweeting on behalf of Samajwadi Party.

Earlier on August 22, Mulayam Singh Yadav was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after his health deteriorated. He complained of chest infection, urine infection and shortness of breath. He was admitted to the ICU on the night of October 2 when the situation worsened. A panel of doctors from Medanta was treating Mulayam Singh Yadav. But the family members had already indicated that the situation is critical and the only support is prayers.

There is a wave of mourning in the entire country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar due to the death of Mulayam Singh. Mulayam became an MLA for the first time in 1967 and became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the first time in 1989. He became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time in 1993 and became the Chief Minister for the third time in 2003 by aligning with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, popularly known as Netaji, founded a separate Samajwadi Party after the split in the Janata Dal.

He became an MLA eight times and was an MP for seven times. He currently represents the Mainpuri constituency in the Lok Sabha. He was the Chief Minister for three terms and the Defense Minister at the Centre. A few days back, Mulayam Singh’s wife Sadhna Gupta passed away in July. Sadhna Gupta was the second wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav. His first wife Malti Devi passed away in 2003. Malti Devi was the mother of Akhilesh Yadav.
