Jerry Lee Lewis dies at age 87; see photos
A rock pioneer, the musician is known for with 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On' and 'Great Balls of Fire'.
Rock legend Jerry Lee Lewis died this Friday (28), aged 87, in the United States. The death was confirmed by Zach Farnum, the singer’s agent. See photos of the singer and pianist.
Alongside Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins, Jerry is considered one of the pioneers of rock’n’roll. The piano playing and singing style, always stridently, marked hits like “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” and “Great Balls of Fire”, essential songs to shape the early rock sound.
In addition, he was able to mix styles such as country, R&B, gospel and pop in acrobatic piano performances. He says his intention is to take people from the audience to hell with him.
Nicknamed “The Killer”, he was among the first musicians inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and has recorded over 40 albums. See more photos of the musician.
