IPL Title Sponsor: The world’s most famous T20 league IPL has got a new sponsor. The Tata group is ready to replace the Chinese mobile company Vivo. According to BCCI sources, Tata will be the title sponsor of the IPL from the 2022 season. The decision on the change in sponsorship was taken during the IPL Governing Council meeting on Tuesday. Vivo pulled out of IPL sponsorship in 2020 due to rising anti-China sentiment in the country. Vivo returned as the main sponsor in 2021, but is now set to end it completely before the 2022 season.
BCCI sources told ABP News that Vivo is not ready to continue with the deal. Vivo and BCCI had signed a deal of Rs 440 crore for IPL title sponsorship in 2018. This agreement was to end after the IPL 2023 season, but the two sides are prematurely parting ways. Vivo is believed to have requested to transfer its current deal with BCCI regarding IPL title sponsorship to Tata, which was approved in the Governing Council meeting. Now, Tata will have the title sponsorship of the IPL for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
