IND vs ENG 3rd Test: The third match of the five-match Test series will be played between India and England from August 25 in Leeds. There is a good news for Team India before the match. Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur is fit to play in the third Test match. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be included in the playing XI or not. Team’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane said in a virtual media interaction, “Shardul is fit and ready for selection. We just have to see with what combination we will come.”

“Regarding the rotation policy, we got a good break after the last Test. All the fast bowlers are ready to play. They want to play which is a good sign,” Rahane said. Shardul, who played in the first Test at Trent Bridge earlier in the month, suffered an injury and was ruled out of the second Test. However, due to his non-availability, Ishant Sharma was brought in and he performed better. The third Test match between India and England is to start from Wednesday. India is leading 1-0 in the five-match Test series.

England’s Shakib Mahmood can debut
England pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the third Test against India at Headingley here with a shoulder injury and may be replaced by Shakib Mahmood, who is on the verge of making his Test debut. The England and Cricket Board (ECB) said on Monday that Wood is not fit to play in the third Test.

The ECB issued a statement saying, “Wood will be with the team in Leeds and will be in rehabilitation. The status of his injury will be seen after the end of the third Test.” England captain Joe Root has indicated that Shakib and batsman David Malan could be included in the playing XI. Root said, “I think Shakib could not be in a better place to play Test cricket than this. We have seen how he has progressed in all formats in the last few years.”
