Elon Musk in a mood to cross Twitter, clashed with Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal over this matter

Twitter Elon Musk seems to be in the mood to cross over. Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal clashed on Twitter on Monday over spam and fake accounts. In fact, Twitter CEO Agarwal revealed how the micro-blogging platform Twitter is fighting spam and fake accounts, to which Musk has objected and stalled the $44 billion Twitter acquisition deal. Musk also featured an emoji on his Twitter thread depicting Agarwal as a ‘pile of poo’.

Musk raised questions about fake account

Agarwal tried to address concerns about the presence of fake/spammy accounts in a Twitter thread with data, facts and context, as Musk questioned Twitter data last week on the removal of fake/spam accounts. Our actual internal estimates for the last four quarters were less than 5 per cent, Agarwal said. The margin of error on our estimates gives us confidence in our public statements each quarter.

Parag replied to Musk

He responded to Musk, who said he does not believe Twitter’s findings, which say that false or spam accounts represent less than 5 percent of its monetized daily active users (229 million). Musk said that his team is busy with the random sampling process to detect the presence of fake/spam accounts. Agarwal replied: Unfortunately, we do not believe that this specific inference can be made externally, given the critical need to use both public and private information (which we cannot share). Externally, it is not even possible to know which accounts count as MDAUs on any given day. To this Musk said, So how do advertisers know what they are getting for their money? This is fundamental to the financial health of Twitter.
