CBI, which stays away from social media, created account on Twitter-Instagram, this is the reason

CBI took steps on social media.

India’s premier investigative agency CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), which stays away from social media, has made its presence on Twitter and Instagram for the first time before the upcoming Interpol General Assembly. 195 countries are expected to participate in this General Assembly. The officials gave this information on Sunday. Officials said the agency has created its accounts on both the social media platforms with the user ID ‘CBI_CIO’ for the three-day 90th General Assembly beginning October 18.

Unlike the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the CBI kept its distance from social media and continued the age-old practice of issuing press releases. Officials said the Interpol General Assembly will focus on cybercrime, money-related crimes and child pornography content circulating on the Internet. India, which had organized a General Assembly in 1997, was given the opportunity to organize this program through a vote in view of the Amrit Festival of Independence.

Shah had offered stock

Home Minister Amit Shah had made a proposal in this regard to Jurgen Stock, Secretary General of Interpol, who had met the minister during his visit to India. The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of Interpol, consisting of representatives from each of the 195 member states, which meets annually. Each member country can be represented by one or more representatives, usually ministers, police chiefs, the head of their Interpol ‘National Central Bureau’ and senior officials of the ministry, he said.

CBI took part in two operations

India joined the organization in 1949. India is one of the oldest members of the International Criminal Police Organization, better known as Interpol. The headquarter of Interpol is in the city of Lyon, France. It was established in 1923 as the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC). CBI is named as National Central Bureau of India for Interpol. The agency has actively participated in two recent campaigns (Operation Megh Chakra against online child sexual abuse material and Operation Garuda against narcotics) based on information from Interpol.
