BJP also had to be involved in the name change.

The Uddhav Thackeray government of Maharashtra had changed the names of the cities of Aurangabad and Osmanabad. It was decided in the cabinet meeting. By that time some Shiv Sena MLAs had turned rebel and went to Guwahati but the floor test was not conducted and neither the rebel MLAs withdrew support to the government. Therefore, the government of majority took this decision in the cabinet. Despite this, the government led by Eknath Shinde again brought its proposal in the cabinet meeting and decided again that the name of both the cities would be changed. The name will be changed to the same name which was kept by the Shiv Sena government.

Think, what was the need? When the rebels of BJP and Shiv Sena agreed with the decision to change the name and were convinced that the new name that was given was correct, then what is the point of the decision to change the name again? Does it mean that BJP wanted to get involved in this name change process? The Shinde faction of Shiv Sena had no meaning as the decision was taken by the Shiv Sena government and they are considering themselves as Shiv Sena. But the BJP had to show that it was involved in renaming two cities with Muslim names. This was essential to his politics of radical Hindutva. Now Uddhav Thackeray’s name will be removed from this decision. The BJP is understanding that by deleting the name, Uddhav Thackeray will not be able to take credit for it. But the reality is that whoever kills first is a Mir. So, if Uddhav Thackeray takes a decision, people will remember him.
