After 16 years, in 2002, when the teams of India and England came face to face on this ground, Sourav Ganguly was the captain. In the first innings of this match, the top three batsmen of the Indian team scored a century to take the score to 628 runs. Rahul Dravid scored 148, Sachin Tendulkar scored 193 and Sourav Ganguly scored 128 runs. England could only make 273 and 309 in both the innings. Anil Kumble took 7 wickets in both the innings.
