Mamta Banerjee had climbed on JP Narayan’s car: Mamta Banerjee entered the world of politics at the age of 15. Mamta had formed a student organization while studying at Jogamaya Devi College. She joined the Congress in the 1970s. In 1975, Mamata Banerjee first came into the limelight when she climbed into the car of socialist activist and politician Jayaprakash Narayan.

In 1975 JP Narayan was about to address a huge gathering in Kolkata, as soon as his convoy entered the city, Congress workers started siege, roads were blocked, the whole city reverberated with slogans. Meanwhile, Mamta Banerjee, as a youth worker, reached near JP Narayan’s car, tearing the crowd. Mamta Banerjee put one foot on the tire and jumped to the bonnet. What was then, people started chanting in the voice of Mamta and the next day Mamta Banerjee caught everyone’s attention in the pictures of the protest against the movement of JP Narayan.

Member of Parliament in 1984: Mamata Banerjee became known as a young parliamentarian in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections. He defeated communist leader Somnath Chatterjee from Jadavpur seat. Although Malini of the CPI(M) was defeated by Bhattacharya in the 1989 elections, she emerged stronger after that. She again won the 1991 Lok Sabha elections and then went on to win the Kolkata South seat in the 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2009 general elections.

Changed routes from here: Mamta Banerjee formed her party on January 1st in 1998 and named it as Trinamool Congress. Just before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he allied with the UPA, when the UPA won, he got an important post like the Ministry of Railways. After this, the alliance of TMC and Congress won the West Bengal Assembly elections held in 2011, after which she took oath as the 8th Chief Minister of West Bengal. After this, she became the Chief Minister of the state for the second time in the year 2016, winning in 2021 but the tension was increased by the by-elections of Bhawanipur seat, which is now over.
