ICC Awards T20I Cricketer Of The Year: Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan and England’s Tammy Beaumont were selected by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as the Men’s and Women’s T20 Cricketer of the Year for their excellent performance in 2021. Apart from this, South African opener Jaaneman Malan received the Emerging Player of the Year award.
Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood and Austria’s Andrea-May Zepeda have been named the ICC Associate Cricketer of the Year 2021 for men and women respectively. It is the first set of individual awards nominated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the best performers in international cricket in men’s and women’s cricket.
The Pakistan opener performed brilliantly in T20 Internationals in 2021 while Beaumont finished third in the list of highest run-scorers of the year in Women’s T20 Internationals. Rizwan scored 1,326 runs in just 29 matches last year at an average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 134.89.
Apart from his stellar performance with the bat, Rizwan also impressed behind the wicket and played a key role in helping Pakistan reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021, with Rizwan being the tournament’s third top scorer.

There is another T20 World Cup to be held next year and in such a situation, Pakistan will hope that Rizwan will continue this performance. Rizwan also scored an unbeaten 79 off 55 balls against India in the first match of the T20 World Cup, helping Pakistan register their first win in this global tournament against arch-rivals.
Meanwhile, Beaumont was the top scorer in T20 Internationals for her team in 2021. Beaumont was the top scorer in their low-scoring series against New Zealand at home and was named Player of the Series for scoring 102 runs in three matches.
He scored a half-century against India but the team had to face defeat in this match due to the collapse of the lower order. Beaumont also performed brilliantly against New Zealand on his own home. She was the top scorer in the series with 113 runs. He scored 97 runs in the first match against New Zealand, helping England set their top score of T20 Internationals in 2021.
