Justice DY Chandrachud will be the 50th Chief Justice of the country

New Delhi | DY Chandrachud New Chief Justice : Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud will be the 50th Chief Justice of the country. The President has put his stamp on the name of Justice DY Chandrachud. Now he will take over the post from 9th November and will continue in the post till 10th November 2024.

DY Chandrachud New Chief Justice : In this regard, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted that Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud will take over as the Chief Justice and he will replace Justice UU Lalit, who is retiring on November 8.

Swearing-in ceremony to be held on November 9
Union Law Minister Rijiju informed that, President Draupadi Murmu has appointed Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as the Chief Justice of India with effect from November 9, 2022. Whose oath-taking ceremony will be formally held on November 9.

Judges in the cases from Sabarimala to Ayodhya
Born on 11 November 1959, Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud is the current sitting judge of the Supreme Court. He took over as a judge of the Supreme Court in May 2016. Justice Chandrachud has been a judge in many big and important cases related to Sabarimala, homosexuality, Aadhaar and Ayodhya in the country.

Father’s name is the record of being CJI for the longest time
Let us also tell you that, Justice DY Chandrachud’s father YV Chandrachud has also been the Chief Justice of the country from 1978 to 1985 and his name also holds the record of being CJI for the longest time.
