Team India beat New Zealand: Team India defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets in the first match of the T20 series. They have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. In this match played at Jaipur’s Swai Mansingh Stadium, Team India achieved the target of 165 runs by losing 5 wickets in 19.4 overs. With this win, the pair of captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid have passed in their first Test.

Virat Kohli has left the captaincy of the T20 format. In his place, Rohit has been given the command. Team India is playing the first T20 series as Rohit’s full-time captain. Captain Rohit played a brilliant innings in the match. He scored 48 runs. Apart from this, Suryakumar Yadav played an innings of 62 runs. Batting first after losing the toss, New Zealand scored 164 for 6 wickets. Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman hit half-centuries. The second match of the series will be played on November 19 in Ranchi.

Team India got off to a good start chasing 165 runs. The team had scored 50 runs without a wicket in the first 5 overs. After this, KL Rahul was dismissed for 15 runs by Mitchell Santner. After this, captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed after scoring 48 runs. He faced 36 balls. He added 59 runs for the second wicket with Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit’s wicket went to left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult.

Suryakumar Yadav played half-century innings

Suryakumar Yadav played an innings of 62 runs in the match. This is his biggest innings in T20 International. He also scored his third fifty. Shreyas Iyer 5 and Venkatesh Iyer were dismissed for 4 runs. The team had to score 10 runs in the last over. Iyer hit a four in Daryl Mitchell’s over. He also bowled 2 wide balls. Rishabh Pant (17*) and Axar Patel (1*) returned unbeaten. Pant got the victory by hitting a four on the fourth ball.

Guptill-Chapman’s fifty

Earlier, captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl. New Zealand scored 164 runs with the help of half-centuries from Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman. Guptill scored 70 off 42 balls and Chapman scored 63 runs in 50 balls. At one point of time, it seemed that the New Zealand team would score 180, but R Ashwin curbed the run-rate by taking two wickets in the same over. Ashwin took 23 runs in four overs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2-2 wickets for 24 runs.
