Tahir Reveals How Babar Helped Him Score A Century In Emerging Asia Cup Final Against Ind A

PAKISTAN beat India by 128 runs in the final of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Sunday at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Tayyab Tahir revealed that captain Babar Azam who is currently in Pakistan along with the team to play Test match against Sri Lanka gave pep talk to the junior team ahead of final against India.

While giving the post-match interview, the right-handed batsman Tahir revealed that it was Babar Azam’s words that gave confidence to the whole team to beat India.

“He [Babar] shared his experience that it’s okay if you have lost your first match against India. He gave us the confidence to go and play fiercely but, most importantly, enjoy the game because you’ll win one-third of the game. And that is exactly what happened today – we enjoyed, and we won,” Tayyab said.

Pakistan posted a mammoth 352 for eight courtesy Tahir’s 108 off 71 balls (12x4s, 4x6s). India made a fist of it, but ended up at 224 all out in 40 overs to suffer their first defeat in this tournament.

Tayyab Tahir was named as the man of the match after smashing the century. This was Pakistan’s second consecutive victory in the tournament.
