There will be no special session in Punjab

Chandigarh. There will be no special session of the Vidhan Sabha in Punjab as the Governor has withdrawn the approval given for the special session. Aam Aadmi Party has strongly opposed this. Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has said that democracy is being murdered at the behest of BJP. In fact, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab wanted to get the trust vote by convening a special session of the Legislative Assembly on 22 September. Aam Aadmi Party leaders have alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to topple the Bhagwant Mann government of the state through horse-trading of MLAs.

The AAP government had sent a proposal to convene a special session to prove its majority in the assembly and demonstrate to be with all its MLAs, which was approved on September 20. However, now the Governor has canceled the proposal to convene a special session. Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has said that it is not in the rules of the Legislative Assembly to call such a special session. The Governor said that the order which was given on September 20, is withdrawn.

Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party had said that the BJP has approached about 10 of its MLAs and lured them with a sum of Rs 25 crore. But all its legislators are united. In Delhi too, Aam Aadmi Party leaders made similar allegations and proved their majority by convening a special session. That special session lasted for five days. However, after the approval of the special session, the order was also issued by the Speaker and the Aam Aadmi Party had also issued a whip for its MLAs.
