Tribute to Pandit Nehru in Parliament House

New Delhi. Several MPs including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge celebrated the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Tributes paid to him on Monday.

According to the statement of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary at a program organized in the Central Hall of Parliament. During this, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor and many other MPs were present. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha tweeted, Tributes to former Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. He paid floral tributes to him in the Central Hall of Parliament.

Significantly, the first Prime Minister of the country, Nehru was born on 14 November 1889. He was a prominent leader of the Congress and a freedom fighter. He died in 1964 during his tenure as Prime Minister. Nehru served as the Prime Minister of India for the longest time. (Language)
