New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday flagged off 50 new ‘low-floor’ cluster buses running on CNG. He said that these buses will improve ‘connectivity’ in the rural areas of the national capital. He also flagged off 30 Innova cars and 36 motorbikes for the enforcement wing of the Transport Department.
The Chief Minister said during the program that all these vehicles would be involved in enforcing lane discipline. We started lane discipline drive from April. Kejriwal said Delhi will have 1,800 electric buses on its roads by 2023, while 80 per cent of the city’s bus fleet will be electric by 2025. He said that the government has issued a proposal for 1,500 electric buses and by November next year, 1,800 such buses will ply on the roads of Delhi.
The Chief Minister said, we have inducted 50 new low-floor CNG (AC) buses. Earlier people had to face inconvenience, as there were not enough buses in Delhi, but in the last two to three years a large number of Electric, CNG, Cluster buses have been inducted into the fleet. The new buses will be kept at the newly built Bawana Bus Depot. He said, this will help in increasing ‘connectivity’ in rural areas. There are already 360 cluster bus routes. There will be six new routes for these buses which will provide services to rural areas. (Language)
