Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: A historic record of T20 cricket was made in the match played between Manipur-Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the match played late on Monday night, spinner Akshay Carnevar did not allow the opposition team to take a single run in his four overs. No player has been able to do such a feat in domestic, international and franchise cricket so far. Playing for Vidarbha, Akshay put all four of his maidens, not only this, he also sent two players from Manipur to the pavilion. Vidarbha got a massive 167-run victory on the basis of Akshay’s excellent performance.

Batting first, Vidarbha scored 222 runs in the match. Jitesh Sharma and Apoorva Wankhede played innings of 71 and 49 while remaining unbeaten. In response, Manipur team was all out after scoring just 55 runs in 16.3 overs. With this win, Vidarbha continues to top the plate group.

KKR all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, playing for Madhya Pradesh, also threw a magical spell in the match on Monday. Against Bihar, Venkatesh, while bowling tightly, sent 2 players to the pavilion for just 2 runs in 4 overs. Venkatesh also bowled 2 over maidens in his spell. In this group stage match, Bihar’s batsmen had no answer for medium pacer Venkatesh’s short deliveries. In his spell of 4 overs, Iyer took out the dot from 22 balls.
