STF to investigate corruption against Kanpur Vice Chancellor

Lucknow. The Yogi Adityanath government has directed the Special Task Force (STF) to investigate allegations of corruption against Vinay Pathak, the vice-chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Pathak, along with his associate Ajay Mishra, is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 1 crore 41 lakh to pay the bills of the company conducting the examination. STF has arrested Ajay Mishra in connection with the incident. David Mario Danish of Jankipuram, the owner of the private company that conducted the examination, had registered a case at Indira Nagar Police Station on Saturday. Danish alleges that he gave money to Ajay Mishra for payment of bills when he was pressurized during Vinay Pathak’s tenure as VC of Agra University.

David’s company was working with Agra University from 2014-15 to 2020. During Pathak’s tenure as the Vice Chancellor of Agra University, his company had conducted the examination under a contract. David said that when he met Pathak at his residence in Kanpur University to clear his dues, he was told that he would have to pay a commission of 15 per cent. After this, at the behest of VC Pathak, he paid Rs 1.41 crore to Ajay Mishra. In his complaint to the police, David said that his company was blacklisted and he was also threatened with dire consequences. Police have registered an FIR against Vinay Pathak and his associate Ajay Mishra under extortion, intimidation and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. (IANS)
