Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the government is going to make Flex Fuel Engine mandatory in the next 6 months. He said that this rule will be made for all types of vehicles. Apart from this, orders will be given to all auto companies to fit flex fuel engines in their vehicles.

Guidelines will be issued soon

The government may soon announce guidelines regarding flex-fuel and compel car manufacturers to make flex-fuel engines in future. It is considered more practical than an electrical vehicle. Therefore, at the existing petrol pumps, petrol will offer bio-fuel in addition to diesel. Let us tell you that the cost of bioethanol is much less per liter than petrol.

Maruti Suzuki will bring flex fuel engine

Maruti is planning to develop flex fueled cars. Flex fuel will be cheaper, but the vehicle’s engine will have to undergo modifications which may increase the procurement cost. Along with petrol and CNG, flex fuel will be the third option. A flex fuel engine can basically run on standalone or a mixture of two types of fuel, Maruti is planning to introduce ethanol powered flex fuel vehicle. Usually a mixture of petrol and ethanol is used, flex fuel will be cheaper than petrol, but the cost of purchasing such a vehicle can be high.
